Driver updates

If you use a PC or Laptop then the hardware inside it will often run off a driver. The drivers can often be set to automatically update or search for new driver updates and inform you but sometimes this does not always work as it should. If you find that you are having an issue with a particular component within your computer, such as your wireless network adaptor then you may wish to check the driver version. You can do this by going in to the control panel, device manager then right clicking on the device. You then select properties and drivers. This page will tell you what version of the drive is installed and from what date. There is a button to automatically search for driver updates but often this does not find them. Go online and find out what the latest compatible driver is and then download it manually. When you go back in to the properties, there is a place where you... Read More »

Improving your online marketing

As with any investment, it is important to try and constantly monitor your web marketing and the effect it is having on your business. Some business, for example, those that only sell online, may be able to monitor their web marketing very accurately. If they see an increase in traffic to the website and sales then they will know that their marketing is working. But other businesses may find it a little more difficult. It may be that your website is purely a portal to give information and to gain enquiries. If this is the case you may take many calls over the phone. It can be hard to know exactly where the enquiry has come from so making it harder to track the success of your marketing within different avenues. You may wish to consider having different telephone numbers, splash pages or even promo codes to try and track the progress of different marketing strategies more accurately.

Marketing your brand

Branding and marketing often get confused, as people think that it is the same thing when really it isn’t although the two are closely linked. Branding is basically your whole company, everything from your logo and name to the uniforms your staff wear and messages and promises that you state you will deliver. Once you have a brand established you will need to promote it and this is where the marketing comes in. You can opt to market your business and brand via a number of platforms online and offline. Social media has grown massively popular in recent years and can grow a brand literally over night with the instance reach that you have when it comes to communication with your followers. Whatever form or forms of marketing you chose to do, be sure to track the results that you get from it as accurately as possible so you can then evaluate whether it is working for your brand or not.

The Windows Software

When it comes to computers, the software you use can either help or hinder and task in which you wish to complete. All computers have an operating system such as Windows 8.1 or 10. Each operating system usually has a number of changes that you may or may not prefer. Windows 8 was totally different to the previous Windows 7 and came with mixed reviews. When Windows 10 was introduced, it seemed to have taken a step back from the Windows 8 layout, which frustrated some people as they had just started getting used to the new layout. Also the Windows 10 software requires about 2 gb of RAM to run, which for some older PC’s or cheaper laptops, puts a huge strain on them. If you have upgraded to Windows 10 but are not happy with it or are struggling with the space you have to run it then you can downgrade again easily for a limited time.

Can you do marketing without using a marketing company?

This is a question many companies ask when it comes to looking at their marketing strategy. Marketing covers a wide range of techniques and avenues some of which can be done yourselves and others of which should be done professionally to get the best out of your budget. Google Adwords is an example of online marketing and many companies chose to undertake this themselves rather than outsource it. It is relatively easy to create an Adwords campaign, but creating one that works and gets the most out of your budget is something different all together. When setting up a campaign you need to be sure to check times your adverts run, keywords you target and match types along with negative keywords, locations and the content within your ad etc. If these are set up incorrectly then you can end up paying for clicks that are never going to convert in to enquiries or sales, essentially wasting budget.
