Android Wear: Google Unveils Smartwatch Platform

[ Developer] Google-based smartwatches were rumored for quite a while, and today, the corporate finally revealed it its platform for such wearables: Android Wear. Android Wear is described as a project that extends Android to “wearables,” and they’re just starting with watches. The corporate is already working with Samsung, Asus, HTC, LG, and Motorola in addition to chip makers Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm. It’s also working with fashion brands just like the Fossil Group. There’s lots of “Ok Google” involved. Test it out: Google says Android Wear will show you info and proposals you’ll need “right if you happen to need them”. Mozilla Ends Firefox Metro Development

[ Developer] In March 2012, Mozilla announced that it was developing a version of Firefox for Windows 8′s Metro UI. The non-profit included Firefox for Metro in its Nightly distribution starting February of last year. In case you became partial to Mozilla’s touch friendly Firefox in that point, you’ll intend to make your peace now. Mozilla announced this morning that development of the Metro version of Firefox has ceased. Actually, the non-profit says that to release a version 1.0 of Firefox Metro “would be a mistake.” So, why kill of the Metro version of Firefox? Two reasons – resources and adoption rates. Mozilla Brings Unreal Engine 4 To Firefox

[ Developer] HTML5 has come far because it was getting used to render simplistic 2D scenes in a browser. Just last year, Mozilla ported Unreal Engine 3 to Firefox for complex in-browser 3D scenes. Now they’re taking it one step further. Mozilla and Epic Games announced today that the 2 are bringing Unreal Engine 4 to the net through Firefox. Very similar to Unreal Engine 3, UE4 will run via JavaScript using Mozilla’s asm.js subset. They claim that asm.js has increased the performance of Web applications to 67 percent of native and that it’ll get even better.
